It is possible to purchase Ring Cycle paintings and posters that are reproductions of the stunning illustrations originally created by famous illustrators such as Arthur Rackham to accompany early printings of The Ring of the Nibelung. These illustrations have been lauded as among the very best of the golden period of illustration and make conversation pieces wherever they are displayed.

Paper prints are the more affordable option, but why settle for a paper print when you can own a real handmade oil painting on canvas? You can order a handmade painted reproduction on canvas of “The Rhines fair children, Bewailing their lost gold, weep”, illustration from “The Rhinegold and the Valkyrie, 1910” today, or any other of the 64 Arthur Rackham illustrations. These are unique and exclusive gifts that you are unlikely to find anywhere else.

Taking the image on the right as an example, it is possible to get a hand painted 16 x 20 inch reproduction for $211 or a much larger 48 x 72 inch size for $895, and there are about 7 sizes in between that are priced accordingly. These paintings are assets that should increase in price over the years.

A cheaper alternative is the ever popular poster which if framed correctly can also become an attractive wall feature. There are posters of “The Ring” by a variety of artists and illustrators including Arthur Rackham. Click here to take a look at a selection of Ring posters.

An advantage of both the paintings and the posters over the original illustrations is their size. In most cases the original illustrations were relatively small and not particularly suitable for framing unless they were viewed close up. Being able to view the illustrations from a distance is much more impressive.

Of course it is possible to buy books and remove the illustrations for framing but then you risk problems with the old inks fading when exposed to light. It is better to enjoy the images in the books and have paintings or posters for the wall where others can also share in the wonder of The Ring Cycle.
